How the Vogt Tube-Ice Machine worksTube-Ice is frozen on the inside of vertical stainless steel tubes by refrigerant circulating in the surrounding shell. A film of water fall from the top of the tube, freezing from the outside in. As the water freezes, salts and impurities are washed back to the pumping tank for automatic removal. When the "tubes" of ice have frozen to the desired thickness, the cycle is reversed and hot gas from the condenser is introduced into a rotating cutter which cuts uniform ice tubes to desired lengths, or if the cutter is reversed, the ice is crushed.

The Finest Ice MakerSince 1939 Vogt has set the standard of quality against which all other ice makers are measured. Vogt craftsmen use only the finest material to manufacture what have become known as the "finest icemaking units ever built". All fabrication takes place in Vogt's modern production facility under strenuous quality controls.
FlexibilityVogt's foodservice capacity models are available to produce as little as 790 pounds of clear, hard ice per day. Larger foodservice models produce up to 25,000 pounds per day. Single large capacity unit can harvest up to 80 tons of ice per day.
Some Tube-Ice machines are set up to change from cylinder to crushed ice at the flip of a switch. Numerous bin configurations are available. Tube-Ice machines may be either water cooled or air cooled, and may even be fitted with heat recovery equipment.
Efficient, Economical, Long LastingVogt Tube-Ice machines are the most economical ice makers available. Operational economy starts with the tubular falling film design, by far the most energy efficient sized ice making configuration. Independent tests on Tube-Ice machines found them to be up to 2 and 3 times more energy efficient than competitive icemakers. In some installations, Vogt's energy savings alone will pay for the entire machine in a very short time.
But economy doesn't stop with energy efficiency. Tube-Ice machine components and frames are all heavy duty, perhaps even a little overbuilt. Vogt discovered long ago that light, "inexpensive" parts break down more often, resulting in very expensive maintenance and downtime. Vogt's heavy duty construction also insures long service life. It is still common to find 30 year old Tube-Ice machines in daily operation.
